Meet Your Neighbour: Mountainside Gallery

Mountainside Gallery is proud to display the best of Canadian and European art. Situated on Hurontario Street in Collingwood Downtown in an historic building called the “Finlay Block” built in 1893. Visitors will be impressed by the array of original paintings, photographs and sculpture. Many of the artists are nationally and internationally recognized and awarded, exhibiting across Canada, the USA, Europe and collected worldwide.  Gallery co-owners, Susan Burack and Maria Lamon are excited to be part of the community.

Susan Burack grew up on a farm in southern Ontario and spent her youth riding horses and skiing.  It was through skiing that she developed an interest in art while visiting the many fine art galleries in both Whistler, British Columbia and Aspen, Colorado.  Susan worked for over 10 years in the fine art industry and has developed “an eye” for recognizing artistic talent and quality art.

Susan has another business in the event industry and has a solid background in customer relations. Combining her business experience with her love of fine art has brought her to open Mountainside Gallery.

“We choose to open the gallery in Downtown Collingwood because we thought that we could really add a nice compliment to the already well-established art galleries and studios,” recalls Susan.

Maria Lamon was born and raised in Argentina and moved to Toronto 40 years ago. She has since begun working in the gallery world, co-founding Analogue Gallery in Toronto in 2009, and assisting with curation and helping clients build their personal art collections both in Toronto and in Collingwood, where she now resides.

She has travelled extensively, growing her love and appreciation for both traditional and contemporary painting, photography and sculpture. She is excited for the opportunity to bring this experience to her newest venture, Mountainside Gallery, where she is dedicated to connecting established and emerging artists to art lovers and the local community.

“We’re very much looking forward to participating in events like the Collingwood Art & Music Crawl.  It’s really important to love what you do and love what you’re selling,” says Maria.
