Meet Your Neighbour: Maggie + Dix

To the delight of shopping enthusiasts, Maggie + Dix, a 2,400 square foot gift shop and home décor emporium opened its doors in Collingwood Downtown in July of 2023.  Owner, Christine Bourne, has curated an eclectic mix of merchandise that is fun to browse through, offering so much choice that you can easily find that something special for that special someone in your life or the perfect piece to grace your home or garden with.

Christine and her husband Randy Woods moved to the area in 2018 after purchasing a Horse farm and facility, now named Gloucester Woods.  Looking for something to fill out her days after transitioning from corporate life as a CPA in Oakville, Christine started Maggie + Dix as an on-line shopping platform in 2020.

“Moving our retail operation to bricks and mortar in Collingwood Downtown gives us the opportunity to create one-on-one relationships with our customers in person, we benefit from the foot traffic generated by both locals and visitors to the community that come to spend time in this gorgeous downtown we have here and it’s great to be able to pop right next door for a meal at Fish & Sips or one of the many wonderful restaurants that are all just steps away.” says Christine.

Christine has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and together with her business background, she has been able to dig right in with a hands-on approach and manages all aspects of running a retail store including sourcing and ordering merchandise, creating and managing the website, on-line order fulfillment and the financial side of things as well.

Fun fact: The store is named after Christine’s grandmothers Margaret and Dorothy.

When Christine is not busy with the store, she enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren.
