Meet Your Neighbour: Gabriele Photography

Gabriele Photography opened their doors in Collingwood Downtown in 1989.  Now in their 33rd year of doing business, this boutique camera shop which caters to the semi-professional photographer is a wonderful resource for anyone that’s a seasoned pro with their camera or an amateur photographer that’s just starting out.

“If you have a dream, you can never give up on yourself, no matter how young or old you are”. Says John.

Today, Gabriele Photography carries full lines of digital (DSLR) camera equipment from all of the major brands like Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Olympus, Panasonic to name a few, as well as a wide range of accessories and framing options.  You’ll also find a huge selection of gently used film (SLR) and digital equipment which offers up a cost effective option for anyone who is just starting out in photography.

“I love doing business in a smaller town like Collingwood.  You know your customers and your neighbours and we support each other.  It’s pretty amazing when you’ve been in the same business for so long; you find that you’re serving multi-generational families.  The couple that came in for passport photos 30 years ago are now the parents or grandparents of the young families that are our customers today,” says John.  “Being on the main street, I’m just two steps away from Blue Mountain Music, one of my favorite stores and my wife Sheri has her business just down the street, Crave the Chocolatier. Everything is just so convenient”.

Gabriele Photography offers something unique and quite nifty.  As well as offering on-site photo prints from either digital or film, they can do dye sublimation printing which is arguably the best way to produce the highest-quality photographic images on apparel and even non-fabric items like glass, mugs  and aluminum.  Basically if you want an image printed on anything…go see John.  If you’re in need of some gorgeous portrait photography or photography workshops, Kara McNally, a long-time photographer and employee offers those services through the shop.

Fun fact:  John is an accomplished musician and singer.  He plays both electric and acoustic guitar and performs in three different local bands; Elephant Gun (80’s Rock), Coming of Age (Classic Rock) and Howes Gabe a newly formed four-piece acoustic band.

Whether you’re just starting out with a camera or looking for some new equipment to broaden your skillset Gabriele Photography will have what you’re looking for or can likely source it for you.  Find them at 133 Hurontario Street in Collingwood Downtown, or call them at 705-445-9030 and follow them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GabrielePhotography1.
