Meet Your Neighbour: Bone & Biscuit
When it comes to our pets, we all want the very best: healthy food and great products, and Bianca Deiters was no different. That’s why just over a year ago, she and her husband, Mike, opened a franchise of the small Canadian pet chain, Bone & Biscuit.
With 10 years of experience in the pet industry, Deiters had seen it all, but it was Bone & Biscuit that stuck out for her. They “really aligned with my beliefs regarding nutrition and quality. We might not carry everything, but we will carry something that’s going to benefit your cat or dog.” Deiters is not new to pet ownership, with three dogs and a cat of her own. That’s Ziggy, Chinas, Stroopwafel and Polaris in case you were wondering.
Shopping at Bone & Biscuit is a unique experience altogether. The bright, colourful interior is welcoming without being overstimulating. It might take you a second to even realize pet food products surround you due to the natural aroma reinforcement from one of Deiters’ favourite downtown shops, The Body Bar, a great example of neighbours supporting each other. Have a question while shopping? The staff at Bone & Biscuit, led by Store Manager Holly, are knowledgeable and ready to help with personalized recommendations and advice.
Bone & Biscuit has become more than just a shop. It’s the centre of the community for pet owners downtown. Deiters describes Collingwood as a very “pet-forward” place, and Bone & Biscuit fits right in with that culture. Deiters says they have built “a supportive community where people have created dog friends and play dates by meeting in the store.
Make sure to clear your pet’s schedule because Bone & Biscuit has several exciting events approaching. Including their month-long fundraiser for the Georgian Triangle Humane Society in May. Beyond that, they regularly host in-store events focused on pet wellness, allowing customers to learn more about nutrition and what works best for their individual pet. It’s all part of their larger goal to be the go-to place for pet wellness, while continuing to build on the strong sense of community they’ve created in-store.
